All data is stored exclusively on your device. Nothing is ever sent to external servers.
In the Settings tab, under "Your Life", tap Born, Final Day, or Lifespan to open the wheels and make changes. On the main screen, tap an empty area near the top or bottom to see your birth date and final day.
Check Settings β Notifications β Memento Mori to ensure notifications are enabled. Also verify that "Remind remaining days" is turned on in the app's Settings tab. If "Vary the time" is on, the notification arrives at a slightly different time each day, within 90 minutes of the time you set.
Tap "JP" or "EN" at the top right of the Settings tab to switch between Japanese and English. Widgets switch language too.
Final day estimates are calculated from the average remaining life expectancy for your current age, rather than a fixed life expectancy at birth. Reference values use the male/female remaining life expectancy data from Japan's 2025 Abridged Life Tables (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare). You can also set your own final day freely.
In the Settings tab, tap Final Day, then tap "Recalculate from life expectancy" below the date wheels. You'll see the dates calculated for male and female alongside your current final day, so you can check before choosing. Because it uses the life expectancy for your current age, the result may differ slightly from an earlier calculation.
Since version 3.0.0, the Week Grid is the second page of the main screen (the Remaining Time tab) β swipe sideways to reach it. Year Progress is available as a widget.
Each count multiplies how often it happens (for example, twice a year) by the years until its end date, rounded up. The end date is your final day. With another person, their remaining life expectancy is estimated from their age or birthday (Japan's 2025 Abridged Life Tables), and the count ends at your final day or theirs, whichever comes first. You can also set the date of the last time yourself (for example, after a terminal diagnosis). "Cherry blossoms" counts how many times your cherry blossom day (April 1 by default, adjustable to your region) comes before your final day, and Full Moon counts the actual full moon dates. Tap a count to see exactly how it was calculated.
Long-press the main screen, the Week Grid, the Full Moon, or any Times Left page, then choose "Share". A square image designed for sharing is created. On the Times Left tab, "Share all" puts every count on a single card. The image is created on your device, and you choose where to send it. The first time you save to Photos, you'll be asked for permission to add photos.
Long press home screen β tap "+" button β search "Memento Mori" β select your preferred size. Lock screen widgets are also supported.
